Donation Requirements

We intend to refurbish and reuse all donated technology and our minimum requirements are based on this intention.

Northeast Tech 4 Good is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 99-3790510) bridging the digital divide by providing refurbished technology to underserved nonprofits, schools, and families. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and we gratefully accept both monetary contributions and in-kind donations of gently used or new technology equipment.

We ask that all donated technology be clean, working and no more than 6 years old. In addition, depending on platform there are additional requirements that we’ve established to allow our clients to use the items safely and securely.

Any Windows PC, desktop or laptop MUST be Windows 11 compatible, we accept all models and brands but those from a major manufacturer (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer for example) are much easier to source parts for and update if needed. There are no minimum RAM requirements but at a minimum intel i3 processors and AMD Ryzen 3 will be considered, though i5 and R5 processors are our preferred minimum.

Mac’s must be at least upgradable to the last fully supported OS (at the time of this writing, May 2 2025 those are (15), Sonoma (14), and Ventura (13), this will change as Apple discontinues support and this page will be updated to exclude those no longer supported). Any working Mac that fits this description will be considered.

Other platforms specific to certain use cases (Sun, for example) may be considered if we have a client in need.

Network and server equipment will be accepted subject to our discretion.

We will generally not accept peripherals (mice, keyboards and cables) but may consider them at our discretion.

We will not consider inkjet or thermal printers, and will only consider laser printers that fit on a desktop and have parts and toner currently available through major retailers. Printers must be fully functional and have power cables attached.

We will currently not accept office scale multifunction printers but may offer alternative channels through which they may be donated.

Anything not listed here may be considered but will be up to our discretion.

Systems will be valued by us through looking at comparative prices found in the marketplace and we will issue a receipt for the donation on that basis
